In Loving Memory of Gilda

Gilda on her last day

It's with tear stained eyes and a splitting headache that I want to let everyone know that I lost my precious Gilda earlier today. She had been fighting her cancer for 21 months (15 more than the vet predicted) and doing a great job of it, but the symptoms she had were progressing and we just didn't think she felt very good anymore. I had the vet I really like and both my Mom and I were with Gildie and I held her as we helped her cross the bridge. I truly believe this is the last nice thing you can do for an ailing pet, but it sure doesn't feel like it at the time...

It was because of Gilda's getting sick that I got hooked up with RAGOM in the first place and it has been very good for me. I've learned so much about Goldens and I have felt so much support from those I've come to know.

It really meant a lot to me whenever you would ask how Gilda was doing and then ask that I give her hugs and pats from you... becoming part of RAGOM has been very comforting for me and I think it helped me deal with Gilda's illness and quite possibly her loss.

Thank you so much to everyone for your suggestions, your well wishes and concern for my precious Gildie! Now we just have to work on the healing process...

P.S. Just to give you an idea of what great neighbors we've got, the poop was cleaned up when we got home and they just brought over a basket of flowers!

Here come the tears again...
