Faith #03-087 (Fostered in Twin Cities Metro Area) Hi my name is Faith. I am 11 months old and have a curable skin condition called Demodex. Demodex is the non contagious form of mange mites and causes me to lose my hair on my face and legs. I also have a suspected urinary tract infection and a grade 2 heart murmur. The vet I am seeing says I am not adoptable at this time so I get to spend more time with my foster family. I need to be rechecked in two weeks to make sure I do not have puppies (the test today showed none but I am not out of the woods yet) and that I do not have generalized demodex which is a more serious condition. In the meantime my foster mom says I need to take my meds, be socialized and learn some manners. I do tend to jump up on furniture and look for food on counters. I also like to bark at dogs in the vets office which my foster mom says is not nice but I can't seem to help myself and we are going to work on that one. I do not like my gentle leader yet but we are going to work on that too. Please check back in a week to see how I am doing and if you think that I might be a good choice for you keep me in mind for when I can go to my forever family. Oh did I mention I love kids and am very gentle!! As you can see I love to play with Logan 03-075 as well!!
UPDATES: 6/5/03: Hi everyone, Well we just got back from the vet and I got my first negative skin scraping!!! YEAH I got my shots and am now ready to go to my new forever family. My foster mom says they are very excited to come and get me and that they have already gotten me stuff from Petsmart. I am so excited about my new family and I heard that I may be starting to train for agility. My foster family knows I would be very good at it given the right training. As you can see from the new pictures my fur is growing back in very nicely. Well wish me luck with my new family and thank you for keeping up to date on me. Love, Faith We wish the A family and Faith all the best. We know you will have a wonderful and loving life together. We will miss you Faith! 5/31/03: Just wanted to let you know that Faith has been adopted! She will be going to a wonderful family who have a lot of land for her to run on and even a pond to swim in. She will be adopted out as soon as she is ready to go and we have our paws crossed that she will be able to go next weekend to start her new life. 5/23/03: Well it is me again. I know it has only been two days since I last sent you an update on myself but I have some more info for you. I went to the vet today and they did some skin scrapes to see where I am with the demodex. They did still find some alive ones but most of them were dead. I am finally making some progress here. I am going to be on meds for another two weeks and then another scrape to see if that did it. I am really anxious to meet my forever family. I really like it where I am but my foster family says that I need to start bonding with my own family now. I love to run and my foster family found out when Duke 03-101 was here that I do not mind being in a kennel anymore but I don't need one at all. My foster family lets me have run of the house and I have never damaged anything :-) I am fully house trained and I love to be around people. I really like kids and am gentle with them. I am used to people pulling on my tail as my foster mom loves to run her hand down my tail and give it a little pull so I am used to little kids doing it. I don't even flinch!! Please keep me in mind if you are looking for an energetic girl who loves to play. I am a little depressed still since Caesar 03-093 left, but with the right dog my foster mom says I will pull right out of it. 5/21/03: Hi everyone...my foster mom told me I had better update my page since it has been awhile. I have been really depressed the last 5 days because Caesar 03-093 got adopted on Saturday. My foster family keeps telling me it will be ok and that I will get my own forever family one day :-) I am almost two weeks into my new treatment for my demodex and I don't know if it is helping yet. I am still itchy so my foster mom does not think it has been long enough yet but we will see on Friday when I go to the vet again. I do have another playmate, Robin 03-115, but I can't figure out why she won't play with me. I did hear that she did not have a very nice life before she came here but I think she likes it here. I did get to have one last picture taken with Caesar so I thought I would share it with you.
Please keep me in mind if you are looking for an energetic dog who just loves to please!! Love, Faith 5/10/03: Shoot thought I was well enough to find my forever home, but I have to have some medicine for the next two weeks then see the vet again. I do look a whole lot better, but whatever my foster mom was doing it did not get rid of the demodex. I am a little relieved though as I no longer have to have a bath 3 times a week!! I bet that makes my foster mom happy too since I now have three other foster siblings. I am patiently waiting to find someone who can keep up with me. My foster family says I am a bundle of energy when I am outside and love to run and chase tennis balls. I sleep very well at night and my foster family has left me alone with Caesar 03-093 for 3 hours and I did great. If you think you may be interested in me please keep me in mind for when I am ready to come home with you. 5/8/03: Faith's fur is growing back in so nicely! Here she is playing with Caesar 03-093
4/30/03: Hi everyone. I am doing well right now. I have Caesar 03-093 to play with and Logan 03-075 has found his forever home and we miss him. I am almost ready to start looking for my forever home. My foster mom thought you may like to see what I offer you so here it goes...
Max hrs alone - unknown as I don't leave them alone..they go everywhere with me but she has no problem in the van...she will be left today for about two hours so if she has any problems with that I will let you know. My personal feelings would be 4-6 hours before she gets really bored as long as she has toys to chew on..she is still a bit of a puppy!! OK With? Little Kids - yes Active exercise - most definitely...this dog is FAST and loves to chase balls, play with you and other dogs...would be great at agility or fly ball if trained relaxed lifestyle---see above Is/Has: Crate Trained - I cannot get her to get into the crate...I think she really does not like it SP Needs - Only as far as the demodex is concerned and a grade 2 heart murmur which is not changing but could still go away. No recommendations or restrictions at this time. We have included some pictures of Caesar 03-093 and myself playing in the water which is one of my favorite things to do other than chasing balls!!
I hope this helps you to figure out if I would be the dog you are looking for and bring me into your life. I really would like to have a forever home soon. My foster mom said I am going back for another check up the end of next week and feels that I may be able to go then. I know I said I could go after the last check up but RAGOM thought I needed a bit more TLC and time to get my immune system running better. Check back next week to see if I am ready to go yet. 4/25/03: We just got home from the vets office and I am tuckered out. I had another ultrasound today to see if I am pregnant and my foster mom is happy to report it is a no. I do however have another infection secondary to the demodex which I am going to be taking oral meds for. I will need to have a follow up visit with the vet in two weeks for scrapings to see if the demodex is going away. My foster parents think my face looks a lot better so we are all hoping (especially me) that I am getting better. The vet said I can start to look for my forever home now and I am so excited. I will need to take meds but they are easy to squirt into my mouth and I will have to have a bath every three days but I tolerate those nicely. I am a very energetic dog who loves to run and would need someone who would exercise me, love me and take care of me. I do have a grade 2 heart murmur that may go away in time and the vet said it did not sound any different than before. If you think you would be the family for me please let RAGOM know as I would love to meet you. 4/21/03: Me again. Just wanted to let you know that I am doing well. I am getting treated for my demodex which includes a bath every 3 days which to tell you the truth I would rather do without but the brushing afterwards can stay. I am very energetic and love to play with other dogs and kids. I do like to bark at the neighbors dogs which my foster family is trying to break me of. Here is me and my foster brother Caesar 03-093 playing tug a war with a toy. Naturally I won. I would like to have a forever family that will have the time to play, train and exercise me. I don't know when I will be ready to go to a new home yet but check back Friday and I will know more then.
4/16/03: I have been here for a week now and my foster family says that I still need to learn some manners :-( but that I am getting a little better :-) I am still really itchy and it does not look like we are getting anywhere yet with my Demodex. I am going back to the vet next week to see what more we need to do before I can become a part of someone's family. Logan 03-075 and I are really good buddies and as you can see from the picture we do play together well. I also love to play fetch and jump for toys. Please let RAGOM know if you would like to meet me as I would love a loving home with kids and a lot of attention as I love to be petted!!
