Laurin #04-207 (Fostered in Des Moines, IA) Well, it looks like I have the honor of fostering another honorary Golden (Black Lab) named Laurin. She is every bit as sweet as another honorary Golden I fostered, Wendy 04-182. Wendy found the perfect, and I do mean perfect, forever home and I am hoping to do the same for Laurin! She is very petite for a Lab, around 50 pounds. She is a tad bit overweight and could comfortably loose 5-10 pounds. When she comes up to you for some lovin' she actually melts into your leg. She soaks up as much attention as you will give her. She is not a barker, is crate trained, and we are working on housetraining, which will take no time at all. She is current on all shots and heartworm pills. She is micro chipped. She is spayed. She is AKC registered.
I gave her a bath today which she loved!! I had help from an 8 year old and a 14 year old neighbor girl. Considering Laurin has never seen a child, she did excellent with them during her bath and walking on a leash later. Matter of fact, she does not pull on the leash and is quite content to stay by your side during the whole adventure. She would be an excellent addition to any family, but I think she would be her happiest being with an older couple or single person that would be willing to give her the attention she craves so much. She would do well with someone who works during the day, but would give her their undivided attention every night, weekends, and of course holidays!!! She is an excellent traveler. Lays down in the back of the van and stays put, not a peep out of her until the car comes to a complete stop. She has lived with many other Labs and Goldens, she does not bother with my cats, and gets along with my three small dogs. She is just about perfect, what more can I say!!
UPDATES: 10/30/04: Laurin was adopted today by Cheryle Y and her family. All of Laurin's wishes were answered, because she will have 3 human siblings and 2 human parents that are willing and able to give her all the petting and loving that she so desperately needs and wants. Laurin may not be a Golden, but she will definitely be living the "golden" life from now on! 10/25/04: Laurin is such a sweet girl, I'm still hoping that the right family comes along for her soon! I just am not able to give her all the love and attention she so willingly accepts. I've only heard her bark a couple of times in the 6 weeks that she has been with me. She loves to go with you, where ever that may be! She is a very well behaved little lady. The only fault I've found with her so far is that she requires loving 24/7! She is in ecstasy when she is being petted! She melts into you and looks up into your eyes with her beautiful, sincere brown eyes. You can tell her your deepest, darkest secrets and she will not think any less of you, she will still love you with every ounce of her being. She is the perfect example of a Lab, if they are all like her no wonder they are so popular! 10/8/04: I really can't believe that Laurin has not been snatched up by some lucky family yet! She is just about the sweetest thing on 4 feet that I have ever seen! She is such an easy keeper, no fuss, no muss, just add food, water and BAM! you have the perfect dog!! I have one cat that can be kind of snotty at times. This cat has decided he does NOT like the Goldens I'm fostering, and he does not hesitate to let the dogs know of his true feelings. However, he loves Laurin, lets her come right up and sniff his fuzzy little face. She adores the neighborhood kids that come to visit her. There are racoons and possums in the neighborhood where I live. When one of them goes strolling by the fence the other dogs tend to go a little crazy, but not Laurin. She checks out what's going on, but then turns away and goes about her business. I have not heard her bark yet. She really doesn't seem to mind being in her crate, but she really loves being as close to her human as she can possibly be. Her housetraining is going well, no messes for quite some time. If I didn't have seven dogs and six cats right now I would be keeping her for sure!! 9/26/04: Laurin continues to be such a joy to have around. She gets along with everyone and anyone, cats, dogs, kids, adults, it doesn't matter. I gave her another bath today and she behaved so well!! She has about the shiniest coat I have ever seen, it looks like black velvet. It's hard to get a picture of just how beautiful her coat really is. She does not mind going in her crate at all. She would be the perfect companion for a working person, someone who would be at work all day, but would be able to spend every minute after they got home from work with her. She is not a barker, no guard dog stuff for her!! She is most definitely a lover, not a fighter!!
