Bodee #04-184

(Fostered in the Twin Cities Area)

In a Presidential debate one time, Ronald Regan said something like, "This is the only time I will mention age in this campaign and I just want everyone to know that I will not hold the youth and inexperience of my opponent against him."  Bodee feels exactly the same about the other deserving pups on this page.

Bodee is experienced in family living, experienced with small children, knows to bark if strangers approach the door (the protector of the family), also has a beautifully soft bed provided by previous owners but is choosing to sleep right beside the bed, again to protect, and is willing and eager to help watch for obstacles while riding in the car.  Head out the window, ears flying in the breeze, he is in control.  He has a mahogany coat that is incredibly silky and of course the white face that makes him distinguished.  We are assuming his age is about 10.  He is trained and will miss the family he has left behind but is eager to meet his new family who will have more time to play ball, walk and pay lots of attention to him.  He is up to date on all shots etc. and is waiting for your call.

UPDATES:

3/21/05:  Bodee went to his new Forever Home with Sue and Richard yesterday.  It was so funny to watch him with these people, he truly picked his family.  He will have walks at Nokomis, a fenced yard, and a cabin up north.  But more importantly, he will have so much attention from 2 people and maybe in the future another 4-footed friend.  I am very content with his choice.

2/7/05:  Bodee is getting Spring fever.  Regardless of the temperature, he is the first out and when I call him to come in he is like a little boy who is having such a wonderful time that he pretends not to hear me until I get insistent or come outside.  Today he had a fresh marrow bone and was outside for at least 2.5 hours.  When he finally came in I took the bone out of his mouth when he came through the door and put it in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. He did not want to give the gooey thing up and had a firm hold.  It took a lot of persuasion and wiggling but he finally let me have it. The words "drop" or "give" seem to be lost on him.

He loves the fenced yard, he acts like he is Lord of the Castle protecting every inch and checking out all of the critter tracks.

He is active and very loving everyday.

1/16/05:  Bodee loves this weather!!!!  I stand at the door and watch the dogs when they are outside when it is this cold.  If they don't choose to come in when they start lifting a paw, I call them.  I call Bodee, I click for Bodee, and then yesterday when his feet got too cold and he laid down, I went out with a leash and made him come in.

12/22/04:  You have no idea how much work it was getting the lights on that tree.  Just had to take a nap before proceeding with the ornaments and that box of candy canes she's going to put on the tree.

To my foster's amazement I am loving the cold and am always the last one to come in.  I track those rabbits every time I go out in the yard.

Waiting for Santa

11/27/04:  Oh Boy, oh boy, OH BOY, oh boy!  The first snowfall is so exciting.  Racing and sliding.  Now the bunnies not only leave smells to follow, they leave tracks, too!  I may be old, but I am fast and nimble.

11/9/04: Bodee has been with me for several months now and I am amazed at how he has evolved in that time. This weekend my grandchildren were here playing with him and when he has a toy he won't give it to you, but if it has a squeaker and you squeak it he gives it up and waits for you to give it back. He likes squeak toys and puts them on the floor and punches them with his nose instead of biting them to make them squeak.

10/31/04:  CLASSIFIED ADS

Personal Classification

Looking for a home with a couple or a single and young person in need of love.  No other pets, or a female canine, would be fine.  I require a little food, some exercise, and lots of affection.  I will help with homework - I'm really good at your elbow when you work on the computer, and would be happy to keep anyone company in the kitchen.  Very polite and discrete with my hoping you will notice me and slip me a morsel.  The Holidays are coming - I would love to be in my own forever home enjoying them with you!

10/27/04:  With the longer periods of darkness now, Bodee has a new interest - he can see his reflection in the glass doors of a cabinet.  He thinks that other dog with the white face is so handsome, and creeps closer and closer - till he leaves nose prints on the glass.  Doesn't bark, just admires.

10/1/04:  Well, I got to go to the RAGOM picnic with my foster mom and Lucy.  I behaved beautifully with all the people and dogs.  I even walked along that long buffet table and didn't touch a thing!  Next year, I hope to attend with my very own Forever Family.

9/20/04:  The other night as the foster was preparing dinner for the dogs in the kitchen I heard the front door quietly open.  No one else heard, those other silly 4 footed animals were just concerned with their next meal, not me, I did some loud barking immediately even though I could not see into that room.  I got an extra treat for being such a good guard dog.  I have been hanging out on the deck, taking walks, and rides in the car and getting lots of snuggling.  It has been a great summer.  AND I get to go to the picnic, be sure and come and pet me.  I will have the blue jersey on that says "ADOPT ME" on the back.

8/9/04:  Check out Bodee's new jersey.....this guy is just too cool :)

7/9/2004:  CAN WE TALK??

I have heard of age and sex discrimination with humans but little did I know it extended to dogs. Doesn't anyone want to "give back" in memory of a wonderful dog they have had in the past? I'm 10 and in good health, have all my teeth (just cleaned), have manners, have a silky light coat so I don't require too much brushing, economical (I carry chew bones in my mouth at least a week and a half before I start to chew on them), and would really like a human of my own to snuggle with, run outside, ride in the cab of your pickup or car and just be so loyal. You really have to share at the Foster house. We are talking quality, not quantity here. I am not a throw away, I have some good years left!!! My Foster loves me, but would have to give up fostering if she kept me. She is very protective, but with tears would let me go to my own home.

Now that I have your attention, let me tell you about my wonderful 4th of July weekend: I visited a nursing home, everyone in walkers and wheelchairs aimed straight for me, a little intimidating, but I did great. They all wanted to touch me and I patiently sat while they felt the outside world once more. I gulped and got on the elevator and sat for the ride. While people visited I put my head on a wheelchair foot pedal and took a nap.

Did I mention I was gentle?

Then the grandchildren came over. Enough humans for everyone to have their own. The 9 year old sat on the floor and just threw her arms around me, I leaned in so she would feel loved, too. The teenager took me outside and played ball and I got touches from the adults, too. When they left all 3 dogs hit the floor and it was a great example of "ALL THRU THE HOUSE, NOT A CREATURE WAS STIRRING" for the next 2 hours. It was soooo quiet in the house.

Please email Placement to meet me, I really am wonderful!

6/27/04:  Special Kudos for Julie at Muddy Paws Grooming for giving me an evening appointment so I could be fluffed and buffed and get a massage. It was so awesome, see me giving her a high five.

Strolling at Lake Calhoun is so great.  I'm getting used to my Gentle Leader and love for people to stop and pet me.

Just hanging out at home waiting for my phone call that someone is going to come and take me home with them.

6/12/04:  In Bodee's ideal home he would be the only dog, getting all the love and attention for himself, with a fenced yard or someone who will consciously walk him so he stays trim and healthy, and with or without children.  He does not have experience with cats.  Call for a visit to check him out, pet the silky fur, and fall in love!
