I would like to welcome sweet Daisy Mae into the RAGOM family. Daisy joined us on Sunday so we are still getting to know her, but so far she is just a sweet senior gal looking for her new family. I have the pleasure of taking care of Daisy for this week until her permanent foster family returns from a trip, and then she will head over there until she is adopted.
Daisy was in the same home since she was a puppy and they surrendered her through no fault of her own. She is 9 years old now and will turn 10, June 3rd. Yep, that is her real birthday so we will help her celebrate!
Daisy has her AKC papers, weighs 68 pounds, has a slight under bite and has a soft and beautiful red coat with a little gray. Daisy is a little shy and so far not super extroverted but she has gotten along excellent with everyone she has met so far—humans and dogs. She immediately seemed to feel comfortable with my 2 fur-boys as they watched over her. I think that has really helped her to adjust to her new surroundings. When I first got her I was a little perplexed with her low growl in different scenarios and it was mostly around me and not the dogs! I shortly realized that it was just her talking, maybe expressing some concerns, but in no way has it escalated. Her previous family confirmed that she has never snapped at any human or dog, but it was just her sound of expression. After getting to know her a bit better, I can hardly imagine her hurting a flea.
Daisy seems to be in great shape and health. She is taking antibiotic eye drops for her right eye. I’m not sure what is going on, but will report back when she visits the vet on Friday. She is spayed, up-to-date on her shots and will start her heart worm preventative after we visit the vet. Daisy has a good appetite, takes treats very nicely, knows some basic commands and loves to go for walks. Daisy grew up with 3 children, so she is used to being around kids, but I have not tested that at my house yet. Nor have I had the opportunity to cat test her, but just a wild guess tells me she will be just fine as she has not shown any prey drive on our walks.
I have given her free roam of my house since day one while I’m at work and so far nothing has moved one inch while I’m gone. It’s funny having 3 large dogs roaming around in my little house all day and you would never know it—other than the fur I have on my rugs, you would never know they were even there. When I’m home, you know they are there because they are all at my side! Daisy is completely potty trained and has a very particular routine on when she likes to go out and do her business and when she expects to be fed! So we just go with her schedule!
I think Daisy would be fine in a home with dogs or no other dogs. I do think that she needs companionship and your attention and not be left alone too much. I have seen no signs of Daisy trying to run off, so I think a fenced yard is optional.
Unless the vet reports otherwise, I believe Daisy is ready for her forever family. If you are interested in a quiet, sweet, low maintenance companion contact your placement coordinator.

Daisy is going to her permanent foster home this evening and I am sure going to miss her. She has really come around in this week and I've really gotten to know her. She has shown her playful side as she likes to play tug of war with a rope.
Also, I forgot to mention that Daisy is a GREAT car rider and a shopper. She waits very patiently in the car when you go into shop. Daisy really likes her walks and walks nicely on a regular leash although she does like to stop and sniff and scavenge for treats along the way.
I took her to the May Day festival in Minneapolis on Sunday and she did amazing. She didn't seem fazed at all by all the noise, all the people and the other dogs. She stayed very calm and took it in stride. She did perk up quite a bit as we passed all the yummy concession stands however. She is very quick when she finds something super delicious on the ground!
I took Daisy to the vet on Friday and they said she was in great health for her age. They did take a look at her right eye and didn't seem too alarmed by it, but they may recommend having further tests if it changes or gets worse. Her teeth are in pretty good condition but there was one tooth on the side we may need to keep an eye on and extract it if it starts to look worse.
Other than that, Daisy is doing well and ready to find her forever home. If you would like to meet this sweet senior girl, please contact your placement coordinator.
Miss Daisy can play! She may be almost 10 years old with a few minor health problems, but that doesn't seem to matter when Daisy wants to play. She has located every stuffed animal our resident dog has cast aside and played tug and fetch with all of them. She has a real fun side that was not initially evident. She is as sweet as she is fun. All Daisy really wants is a forever home, a few toys and someone to pet and love her. She has warmed up to everyone in our house, including the cat.
What Daisy needs is a family, big or small, that will love her and care for her in her "golden years". She has been diagnosed with something called "Horner's Syndrome". Now this is not as menacing as it sounds. It is the canine equivalent of "Belle's Palsy". It causes a light droop on the right side of her face which only makes her more adorable. It is not known what causes Horner's. It is possible for her to have a long and happy life with a new home and lots of toys!
Daisy does not seem to be a runner so, while a fence would be nice, I don't think it is necessary. She is fully housetrained and alerts you of her need to go out with a gentle bark or a little dance. When she wants to come in she will lightly scratch at the door or bark. She seems to do fine on her own and should have no problem being at home alone for the day. We have gone for walks and she does quite well on the leash. She would pull occasionally but would respond to a correction. The one thing she needs work on is her recall. She does not always come when called. We have been working on it and I already see an improvement. Daisy doesn't come across as real warm in a first meeting. Don't let that fool you! She has shown us her true self and she is warm, quirky and delightful! She is currently rolling around on the floor playing with a stuffed lamb and squeeking a toy cellphone. She is a joy to have around!
For an almost 10 year old, Daisy has a lot of energy. She loves to play fetch with her people and just run around with our resident dog. She is more and more lovable every day. She really loves attention and will cuddle up next to my legs for some love. Considering how long she was with a family, her adjustment has been remarkable. Any family would be so lucky to have her. I will be bringing her to the RAGOM event on Sat. at the Eden Prairie PetsMart.
Spring flowers are blooming here in South Mpls., especially our Daisy. Each day she becomes more delightful. She has a real joy for living that is contagious. She takes such pleasure in a game of fetch, she makes it difficult to stay in a funk too long when she is around. Daisy is not only perking up the people in our house, but the animals too. Our resident dog can be pretty mopey when the weather is yucky. Daisy just moves her fun indoors, which encourages Stanley, too. Last night I saw one of the sweetest things ever. Stanley was on the couch and Daisy walked over to him. She was nose to nose and then she lightly rubbed her face along each side of his face and then they kissed! It was priceless!
Daisy is a pleasure to walk on a leash. I am disabled and walk with a cane. Daisy is totally respectful and does not pull. She does not even require a Gentle Leader. She plays well in our yard and is not a runner. She has been left at home with the other animals for about 6 hours, so far. I would not hesitate to leave her for a few hours more. I have to end this because our Miss Daisy wants to play. If you would like to meet this precious girl, she and I will be at the PetSmart in Eden Prairie starting at 2:00 pm. On Saturday May 15th.

Sweet Daisy is having a good week. She enjoyed meeting people at PetSmart and plans on being at the event at Ollu Dog Wash this weekend. Daisy is a joy to have around. She is sweet, playful, loving and wonderful on a leash. She has adjusted so well to our family and would do the same in her forever home.

This adorable picture of Daisy was taken at a RAGOM event last weekend. We had a busy weekend starting with a trip to the Vet. I was worried because Daisy was panting so much and because of a small lump on her back. The Vet assured me that she is fine. The lump is a cyst and the panting is due to the hot weather. Once we got the air-conditioners in, the panting slowed. She is in good health! We went for several walks over the last few days. She loves walks and does so well on a leash! She and Stanley have been having fun playing in the backyard. We have a fence but I don't think it is necessary. She does well with our resident dog but I think she would be OK as an only dog, as well. That is as long as she wouldn't be home alone much longer than a regular work day. Daisy is a pleasure and so easy! She doesn't have accidents or chew on things, she is totally home ready!
Would you like a companion, a character that will bring constant joy and laughter to your life? Then you want Daisy! It occurred to me this morning one of the reasons that she is so special. She makes it such a joy to love her. She soaks it up like a big, red sponge! I think that one of the differences between Daisy and my resident dog is that Stanley takes the love for granted, while Daisy revels in it. She rolls around in it, she dances and wags over it. At least a few times a day she will come to me just to cuddle for a minute. She will stand and wag, her back end swaying back and forth. She will let me hug her and give the love right back, with gusto. She makes everyday more fun and filled with joy.
She walks on the leash like a dream. She can be at home alone, and with my Resident Dog and Cat. The best part of leaving her is coming home. Her greetings are the best! She can hardly contain her joy in seeing her people again. Don't you want to be one of her people?

I came home from shopping to the most wonderful, joyous greeting. My husband said that Daisy just sits at the garage door, tail wagging, waiting for me to come through the door. Since I got home we have had a rousing game of fetch and a few rounds of petting and scratching. When spending a quiet night at home, Daisy just radiates joy. She loves the simple pleasures of being at home with her foster family. Every once in a while she comes to me, dances a little and waits for me to cuddle a bit.
Would you like to have this wonderful, sweet, funny Daisy to brighten up your home and make your family complete? If so, please contact placement and let's talk about Daisy.

It has been a lovely week with Miss Daisy. We celebrated her birthday on the 3rd. Except for the fact that we ha e it in writing, I would never believe that she is 10 years old. As a person with a disability, I walk with a cane, I so appreciate Daisy's combination of fun energy and restfulness. She loves to play fetch, but not fir long, she loves to go for walks, but not for too long. She dances around when she gets excited and always gives off a feeling of playfulness and joy.
If you are looking for a funny, adorable, playful girl who will fill your house with love and laughter, then Daisy is your girl!
Here is sweet Daisy again! We are on our way home from the car show where we met tons of great people and dogs. Daisy is doing so well! We have taken care of all of her minor health issues and she is ready and rarin' to go! She has been so happy and content. She loves to play fetch with all of the stuffed animals in the house. Her favorite thing is for me to throw something down the hallway so she can run after it. We have also been taking a lot of walks. She does really well when she is by herself or when our resident dog joins us. She shows him how to behave on leash. If you are looking for a sweet, fun girl with tons of personality, then Daisy is for you!
All is well in Daisy's world. If I didn't have the papers to prove it, I would never believe that she is 10 years old. She is mellow when you want her to be and frequently full of fun and playfulness. She is such a joy to have around. While I know it is the right thing to do, it is going to be very hard to give her up. But, I will do it willingly when the right family comes along. I hate to see people pass her up because of her age. We have no guarantees with any age dog, they all have to go sometime. Daisy would give a family so much joy today, who knows about tomorrow? Daisy and I will be at the Ollu event on Saturday from 11 to 1-1:30. I hope to see lots of people there!
Daisy is waiting patiently, along with her feline friend Gabby, for treats. She sits so patiently, like always. We have been walking every day and she just loves it! She walks so well on the leash, she shows our resident dog up every time. I have been leaving her alone while I take our resident dog for his walk and she does just fine. Daisy is a wonderful, mellow, playful and loving dog. Anyone would be lucky to have her. We will be at the Ollu event on Saturday from 11 to 1.
I have been trying all morning to get a picture of my resident dog and cat along with our foster, Daisy. The problem is that my two resident animals will not sit still long enough for me to snap the picture. Daisy, on the other hand, sits like the lady that she is. Maybe next time! The picture above is from the Classic Car show. Daisy had a great time meeting so many wonderful new friends. Daisy does not usually standout as the friendliest of the Goldens at these events. She is a bit shy and takes a little while to warm up to people. However, once she warms up to you she is the warmest, sweetest, friendliest girl you could ever meet. I feel so blessed to be one of the people that she loves. If you would like to be lucky enough to be one of the people that Daisy loves, just get in touch with placement. Daisy won't be in attendance at events for a couple of weekends as she will be blissfully happy romping in the North woods!
Daisy is resting and recovering from her first vacation with my family. It was an opportunity to learn more about what kind of forever home Daisy needs. Due to an incident with my nephew, where Daisy reacted to being scared and surprised, it would be best for her to go to a family with older children or no children. She did prove to be a bit of a "sandwich stealer" so dog-savvy kids would be best. She had so much fun running through the woods, chasing bunnies and playing with Stanley. She always comes when she is called and walks right next to me on walks. She did not swim but did wade in the water and drink it. She definitely likes it at the lake! The trip was more than 5 hours each way and you would hardly know she was there! She was her usual sweet and loving self and would make someone such a wonderful companion!
Daisy, Stanley, Gabby and I have been enjoying each other's company and the air-conditioning! It has been awfully hot for an older girl like Daisy. Instead of going for walks, she gets her exercise by chasing after the stuffed animals that I throw down the hallway. She is so easygoing that she is happy to be wherever I am. She spent the weekend with another foster, Julie, and her pack. She said that Daisy was delightful and welcome back anytime. Don't you want this easygoing sweetheart for your very own? If so, contact placement.
Daisy has had a good and uneventful week. She and our resident dog were home alone a lot while we were out this weekend. She does very well when we leave her, we have never had an incident of any kind. She is thoroughly enjoying the cooler weather. She will lie on her side on the front porch for hours. She is such a good girl, so playful and delightful. If you would like to meet her just let placement know.
I can't believe that it is already time for the MN State Fair! Daisy and I will be there together tomorrow. We will be in the Pet's building under the RAGOM banner. We would love to have lots of visitors. Daisy is a sweet, wonderful girl. She is shy at first but always opens up. Because she is older and startled easily, it would be best for her to go to a home with older or no children. There was an incident with my five year old nephew because he jumped on her. She is wonderful on leash and in the car. She would be happy with or without another dog. I do not think that she needs a fence. She loves to play fetch, but mostly inside. She is currently on some medicine and prescription food to help her stomach. I don't think that she will need it indefinitely. If you are looking for a lovely girl with a sweet, big heart, come see Daisy!
Nap time for Daisy! She is enjoying a relaxing afternoon. The heat has been difficult for everyone. As it gets nicer out we will be out for the walks that Daisy loves so much! So, if you are looking for a beautiful, sweet older girl to keep you company, Daisy is your girl! She is so good on leash and rides so well in the car. She does not need a fence but should go to a home with either no children or older kids. She would do fine with or without another dog. We will be at the Grandparents event in Plymouth next weekend.
