Katie Jo
Katie Jo #10-085
(Fostered in Ames, IA)

Katie Jo is a beautiful, gentle, loving senior girl who is 10 years old.  In her prior home she lived with children and other dogs.  Katie Jo would do best in a home with another companion canine.  She does fine on walks.  She is spayed and is UTD.  Katie Jo is a typical golden and wants to be by her 'human' family, especially at night.  She has free roam and does not like to be crated.  She does fine with the resident cat and enjoys the fenced in back yard.  She enjoys a big bone, a 'furry toy' and tennis balls. She is one lovely senior golden girl.

UPDATES:
04/12/2010:

Katie Jo spent this weekend enjoying the beautiful weather and meeting the neighborhood.  She didn't mind all of the dogs walking by the front of the house and even went and laid by the fence near the neighbors 14 year old cocker spaniel.  We have yet to meet or see another dog Katie Jo doesn't like, she's such a friendly girl!

She's now settled into her routine and loves nothing more than to lounge about in a cool spot with her bone.  We're getting in ournightly walks and she's up to a mile before she really looses steam but likes to get out and smell all the smells!  On walks she never pulls towards another dog and is very calm if other dogs may not be.  She's having some problems with going down my steep wood stairs inside the house, but other less steep stairs are no problem for her.  She's a great calm dog looking for her forever "pack".

Katie has been in our home (new foster home in Ames, Iowa) for a week now. What an absolute sweetheart! She is just the sweetest little girl. She weighs about 50# and is shorter than the average golden. She has free roam in the house without any problem. She gets along with all of our resident dogs (male and female) and could care less about the cat. She walks very well on a leash and loves to run. She barks very seldom and eats well. She likes to be around people but is not a velcro dog. She loves to play with her stuffed toys - throws them up in the air and pounces on them. Honestly, you would never know that she's 10 years old. Please contact your placement advisor if you are interested in sharing your life with this little girl - she will win your heart quickly.

Katie Jo is such a sweetheart!  She has definitely won our hearts!  She gets along great with our resident dogs and every dog she comes in contact with.  She is not interested in the cat at all.  She loves to meet people on our walks so she gets a little extra petting!  She walks very well on a leash and keeps up with all the other dogs.  She has a very cute trot and runs beautifully when off leash.  She eats well and is always ready for a treat.  She is completely housebroken and has free run of the house.  She likes to sleep on the floor in our bedroom and keep her head under the bed....so cute.  She is such a special little girl and you would never know that she's 10 years old.  Don't let her age scare you away....this girl has many years of love and companionship to give.  Please call your placement adviser if you would like this sweetheart to be part of your family.

Katie Jo continues to do well.  She is so little and sweet.  Everyone who comes to our house just falls in love with her.  She likes to be near people.  She will follow me from room to room in the house and just lie down.  She has free roam when we're gone and does fine.  She loves to go for walks and has a cute little trot with her ears bouncing.  She is a lighter colored golden with very big dark brown eyes.  She gets along great with our resident goldens and could care less about the cat.  If you're looking for a little sweetie to share your life, Katie Jo is the dog for you!

Katie Jo was adopted today by Kris and Steve who will give her all the love and attention this little sweetie deserves.  They adopted their first golden a year ago when he was 9 years old so they all know about the joys of adopting an older golden.  The best part is that Katie will continue to live in Ames so we will get to see her as often as we want.  We're so happy for the entire family!
