Remi
Remi #10-066
(Fostered in Muscatine, IA)

We picked Remi up at a rest area near Cedar Rapids, IA a week ago from wonderful RAGOM volunteers who wanted to help with the transport. Remi was very nervous on the ride home and was vocal from time to time about being nervous. By the time I got home with him, he had been riding in a car nearly three hours and was really ready to stretch his legs and see what there was to see at our house. The meet and greet with our 11 dogs went fine, but we could tell that Remi had not been around a pack of dogs before. He was nervous about so many new dogs, so we allowed him to hang out in our kitchen by himself the first few nights. Now we are having him hang out in the living room with all of the other dogs most of the time so that he adjusts to them.

Yesterday, I took Remi to the vet for a checkup and he is fine except for being overweight. Remi has a back like an aircraft carrier, but I'm sure that playing outside with our dogs will help him to lose some weight. Remi is a very needy boy and we can tell that he is used to getting what he wants. Remi came into RAGOM due to an incident with the SO's new baby. The baby was accidentally scratched because Remi is an enthusiastic boy and was not introduced to the baby in a way that was safe for both of them. Fortunately, the SO's agreed to allow RAGOM to rehome Remi. I am sure that Remi will make a wonderful addition to a family willing to give him some structure and patience while he adjusts to his new life. Right now Remi craves attention and is hyper. I think that he will settle down this week and we will see what his personality is really like.

UPDATES:
03/21/2010:

Well, I was finally able to get a few pictures of Remi today. Remi doesn't sit still long enough to get good pictures, but hopefully, I will be able to good ones later. He is a pretty guy and is a medium Golden color and a bit of a "round puppy" as you can see.

Remi has now been in our home for two weeks. We have learned a few things about him. He is definitely an alpha male but he gets along with nearly all of our dogs except our alpha male, Bogey. Remi guards food and toys from other dogs, so we keep him away from the other dogs when he is eating or has toys. He is calming down and we don't see that panting and pacing behavior anymore. Remi likes to be brushed and petted and he loves people. He loves to play with his people and is very comical to watch. Remi is very vocal when he wants something. He will come over and bark at you or kind of growl talk to you when he wants to go into the kitchen for a drink or to get his Kong. He is good at letting you know what he wants!

I think that Remi would do well in a home as an only dog or perhaps has one dog that is submissive. I think that Remi would be overwhelming for small children, so a family with older children or teenagers would be best. Remi is still very hyper so he needs an active family that can help him run off some of that energy.

That's all for now.

Remi has been with us three weeks now and is settling in nicely. Today we were all outside while I raked the yard and picked up the doggie do. Remi loves to be out in the yard and just hang out with the rest of the guys. He found a stick to chew on and then he napped a bit. He seems to be less hyper these days or perhaps he is running it off more outside with the nice weather!

Remi is ready for his forever home and would do well with an active family. He loves to growl talk (dog speak) when he wants something. He is really quite funny!

If you are an active family with older children, let placement know that you would be interested in meeting Remi. He would love to meet you!!

Hey there!! This is Remi the wonder dog checking in!! Wow, what a beautiful day!! My foster mom just took me out for a walk and I feel great! I love it when I get some one on one time with my people. She laughed at me when I rolled in some leaves and made some grunting noises. Hey, a guy's gotta have some fun, right? Then she brushed me to get all of the sticks and leaves off of me. That wasn't as much fun as rolling in the leaves, but that's life. Say, I've got a great idea! Why don't you contact placement at RAGOM and tell them that you would like to meet a fun guy like me? I promise that you won't be disappointed. I am the most fun guy anywhere! I hope to hear from you soon.

Lots of puppy love,
Remi the Wonder Dog

This is Remi the Wonder Dog checking in! I have been waiting to hear from my Forever Family, but I think that they must have forgotten how to contact me. It is real easy, just contact placement at Ragom and let them know you'd like to meet me. They will let my Foster Mom know and then we will call you to arrange a meeting. How easy is that?

I have been hanging out here long enough. I would really like to get my own place with my own Forever Family. I would like a family that likes to play ball. I am the greatest at playing! I give really fantastic hugs too! Just ask my Foster Mom. She thinks they are the best hugs she ever had! Let's get together soon, OK?

Hugs and Puppy Kisses,
Remi the Wonder Dog

Whoopee!! Today is Mother's Day and I am showing my foster Mom how much I love her!!

I have been hanging out by her feet while she does things in the kitchen and in the laundry room. I don't get it. Shouldn't she have other people do things for her on Mother's Day? I guess she must like to do things herself. I would do them for her if I could! I gave her a big hug and a big sloppy kiss for Mother's Day! And she loved it! I even brought her my kong to play with. I think that I will take a nap now. I played outside real hard this afternoon. It is a beautiful day in the neighborhood!!

Say, why don't you contact placement at RAGOM and let them know that you would like to meet Remi the Wonder Dog. I have a big hug and an sloppy kiss for you too! We could have so much fun!! I can't wait to meet my forever family!

Hugs & puppy kisses,

Here it is Memorial Day Weekend and I find myself counting my blessings. I have been a volunteer foster for Ragom for six years now. It has been so wonderful to see our fosters blossom into special companions. All of our fosters have been special to us and Remi is no exception. Each of our fosters has had their own individual challenges as does Remi. Remi is a sweet loving boy who adores people. He would make a wonderful addition to a home with older children or empty nesters. Remi loves to lay at my feet while I answer my emails. Out of our eleven dogs, the only one that Remi will play with is Charlie. They play chase and tug and sometimes wrestle a little. Remi has made a lot of improvement since we got him in March. He is a work in progress, but he is progressing. Please, if you could give Remi a loving home and work with him a little, he would be a very special companion for you. Contact Placement at Ragom and let them know of your interest in Remi. Remi could be the light of your life if you give him a chance.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!! Whopee!! This is Remi the Wonder Dog sending out Father's Day wishes to all of my potential Forever Dads! I missed spending Fathers Day with you this year, but I promise that I will make it up to you next Fathers Day! You can see that I am a handsome boy and I really love my people. I love everyone I meet! I especially love to play fetch with my people! My kong is my favorite toy right now, but if you give me some other toy, it will become my favorite toy because you gave it to me. I tried to make today a special Fathers Day for my foster Dad and he really liked it! I showed him how much I loved him by always being happy to see him and bringing him my toy to throw. See how much fun it would be to have me for your very own. Just contact placement at RAGOM and let them know that you would like to meet Remi the Wonder Dog!

Hope to hear from you soon,
Remi

Hey, hey it's REMI THE WONDERDOG! I thought that I'd better check in with all of my fans. Things have been going great here! My foster mom took me to the vet yesterday to check out a couple of lumps she found, but everything turned out fine. I have trimmed down a bit which made them stand out. She was hoping to have me weighed at the vet so that I could brag about how much weight that I have lost, but their scale broke and they didn't have the new one yet. Fabio and Bubba aren't the only ones slimming down! Ok, so I haven't lost as much weight as Fabio and Bubba and I will never win the biggest loser, but I feel like a winner just the same! I will try to let my foster mom get some good pictures of me for my profile soon. You know, I'm much less of an antsy pants as I used to be, so she should be able to get some good pictures of me if she can keep her thumb off of the lens. Ha, ha, only kidding!

It is so hot here! I think I heard my foster mom say they were going to get out the wading pool. Wow, that sounds like fun!

Later gator,
Remi the Wonderdog

Yesterday was a happy day for Remi and his forever mom, Brenda V. Remi took a ride from Muscatine, IA to Waterloo, IA to RAGOM transport volunteers Rosemarie and Jan's home. They kindly allowed Remi and me to meet Brenda there. It was love at first sight for Remi and Brenda. Remi traveled back to Rochester, MN with his new mom to his Forever Home and to meet his new kitty sibling. Remi has a wonderful life ahead of him with his Forever Mom, Brenda. We will miss Remi the Wonderdog!

We are so happy for them. Best wishes to you both.
