Kelsie is a 5yr old female, "Yellow Lab"; there is no mix of anything else in her.I picked Kelsie up on Thurs. and she has been a little busy the first few days. As Kelsie has been an outside dog and now she is being trained to become a inside dog. We have had a few accidents (to be expected), as she does not know, nor do I know her signs when she needs to go potty. She does not know what a kennel is so that has been a real adventure, but getting better every time she needs to be put in for her safety. I tried to tether her to the bed frame her first two nights and she eat thru both leashes (leather and cloth), one night she even got a hold of the TV remote control and well you know the end of this story. I needed a new remote. What I love about her is that she is a outside dog, but she LOVES my couch! She stretches over two seat cushions and can snore like no one's busy. As the attached pictures show Kelsie is on the couch all the time.
She is a little over weight, Kelsie was given continuous food 24/7. So with more ball playing, which she loves, chasing the other resident dogs, and chasing the birds that keep landing in the yard. She is on less food, about 1 1/2 cups or less and one cookie treat in the morning, she will get the weight off.
Kelsie goes to the vet tomorrow for all her updates on shots, HW check and whatever else she may need. We will also get a current weight on her also, so more to come on the weight loss project.
The perfect home for Kelsie would be to have a fenced yard, she loves children of any age, cats maybe ok, as she came from a home who had two large cats. But being that Kelsie was a outside dog, how much time did she really spend in the house with the cats??If you’re interested in Kelsie please contact your placement coordinator.
Kelsie is the most fun loving dog who loves to play with her resident sisters. Their favorite games are chase or ball. Kelsie was vetted this week and she is very healthy and UTD with her shots, but just alittle over weight. Kelsie also needs to lose about 10 pounds, so she is on the green bean diet; she loves them and knows nothing different.
Kelsie's furever home could have children of any age; the only dog or with a brother/sister to play with; and possibly a fenced yard. She is starting to play in the doggie pool, but still not quite sure what it is, just good cold drinking water.
If your interested in Kelsie, please contact your placement coord.
Life is very comfortable for Kelsie, she never wants to get off the couch, she is the biggest couch baby I have seen. For an outside dog to love a couch this much is strange to me; She is getting better and better about going into her kennel at night-time, and in the daytime as I leave for work. She gets a frozen kong with PNB and puppy cookies and she has not quite figured out what to do with this thing. She eats the top layer of PBN, but leaves the cookies in the middle.
Kelsie is great with very young children and all children for that matter. She runs to the fence and licks fingers, arms anything the kids can get to her.
She knows to come when talked no matter what commotion is going on in the neighbors yard, I call once "Kelise come" and she is here. She also sits on first command too. Kelsie walks very gentle on the leach and will walk whenever speed you want to go. She loves to play fetch the tennis balls, and is very gentle in giving them back to toss again.
I my opinion whoever adopts Kelsie will be a very lucky family; to adopt Kelsie 09-163, pleace contact your placement coord.
Love FM, (residents) Missy, Ali and 08-293 Sunshine
Today's update is coming from Kelsie, as FM is very much under the weather!
Well where do I start, about two or three weeks ago FM and FD started putting in a new privacy fence section in the back yard to keep the neighbors dogs from jumping over their fence into your yard. As I have told FM, them boys are fun to chase and watch them jump back over when their owner see's them in my yard. But FM has no sense of humor when it comes to playing with the boys next door. Then FD made new steps off the deck for Sunshine 08-293, as she is having problems with her hips and back legs. You should see all of us on the new steps, we the younger crowd just fly over them and Sunshine needs to use every step to get up and down, but it's working. Sunshine has not fallen down in over two weeks.
Last week FM said that a family may possible be interested in me and that we going to go see them on Saturday, June 20. But on Wednesday of last week FM started to get very sick, so on Thursday night she had to call the family and postpone the visit, maybe this weekend. But as FM got sicker and was home on Friday, I Kelsie, the head nurse, made sure that FM was ok. Everytime that FM would lay on the couch, I made sure that I was on her legs and feet to keep them warm and if FM would go to the bedroom to sleep I was going too. I tried to give FM one of my bones while she was sleeping and FM found it in bed later that night. But I did find out that I like sleeping with my FM in her bed; but so do my resident sisters.
FM also gave me full roam of the house since Thursday and I have been very good, and FM is so proud of me. After eating the remote control for the TV (which by the way was not good tasting), the first few days I was in the house.
Yesterday with the heat none of us dogs wanted to go outside and play, so we played in the living room and made FM vaccum later in the evening with the dog hair flying. But we have tons of fun in this house and I have so many playmates, Ali who is 2.5yrs is just a little chicken, but she is still fun to play with.
Well that's all for now folks, if you think you maybe intrested in adopting me, please contact your placement coord.
Lick....lick, Kelsie and FM
It's almost official that Kelsie has been adopted by the S family!!We went for a visit last Sunday and Kelsie met the whole family and really liked her 13 year old fur butt sister. They did have a few words about something, women and hormones ……who knows what their discussion was about, but it was loud.
Kelsie will have one more vet appt to have some hair loss spots on her back hips looked at, as this is growing back now. And then on Friday, July 3 it will be finalized. Kelsie is going to a wonderful very loving home, close to a lake where I hope she may get to go swimming. The 3 yr daughter is looking forward to having Kelsie sleep with her, which really will not be a problem. As Kelsie likes sleeping in bed, all night and not moving.
Kelsie we love you very much and enjoy your new home and family, as they already love you!!
Love you, FM, Missy, Ali and Sunshine 08-293
It is official that Kelsie has been adopted by the DS family. Kelsie remembered meeting her 13yo fur butt sister, and they started playing with toys immediately, she also remembered being in the home and just went about exploring the house again. Kelsie's new mom is so excited and happy to have her as her own, and to love her.
Ali is having a very hard time with you gone, she enjoyed playing all star wrestling and tug a war with the stuffed toys. Kelsie we all love and miss you; enjoy your new life with the DS family, as they love you every much.
Love, FM, Missy, Ali, and Sunshine 08-293
